"The concept of a 'technolect' referred to in German as Fachsprache and in English as a Language for Special Purposes (LSP) has been frequently defined merely as a set of terms characteristic of some specialist work field and labelled a "dictionary" or "lexicon" of specialist terminology, or a "set of texts" produced in some specialist jargon. This is a misleading simplification of the phenomenon much more complex and heterogeneous than it may appear to be at first glance. As any internal lexicon comprises different lects, a technolect, i.e. a language for special purposes, should rather be treated as a partly autonomous component part of different lects."
